The awards ceremony happened on Wednesday evening, July 15 @ LA's Nokia Theater. The event was hosted by actor Samuel L. Jackson. The whole awards ceremony will be officially aired on Sunday. Winners this year:
Olympic champion Michael Phelps has ended Tiger Woods' 5-year reign as Best Male Athlete by swimming away with the 2009 title. He also got Best Record-Breaking Performance, Best Championship Performance, and Best Male Olympian.
The 2009 Best College Athlete Award is given to Heisman Trophy. Tim Tebow won to become the only two-time winner in the category by winning last 2008. Lebron James becomes Best NBA Player, Best Driver Jimmie Johnson, and Best NFL Player Larry Fitzgerald respectively.
